Application of anti loosening nuts
What is a jam nut?
Lock nuts and self tightening nuts are common types of fastening lock nuts. Including mechanical anti loosening, riveting anti loosening, friction anti loosening, structural anti loosening, etc.
Tips for using anti loosening nuts:
A lock nut is a component that is used to tighten nuts, bolts, or screws together. It is a necessary component for all production and manufacturing machinery. A lock nut is a component that tightly connects mechanical equipment. It can only be connected together through internal threads, equivalent specifications of lock nuts, and screws. Below, we will introduce in detail four methods for preventing lock nuts from slipping
Mechanical anti loosening
It directly restricts the relative rotation of the locking nut pair using a locking nut stopper. For example, using toothed pins, serial steel wires, and stop washers. Due to the lack of pre tightening force on the locking nut stop, the anti loosening stop only works when the locking nut is loosened to the stop position. Therefore, in practice, this method of locking the nut does not prevent loosening but rather avoids scattering.
Riveting and anti loosening
After tightening, methods such as punching, welding, and bonding are used to make the locking nut pair lose its motion characteristics and become an inseparable joint. The drawback of this method is that the bolt rod can only be used once and disassembly is very difficult, requiring the destruction of the bolt pair before disassembly.
Friction anti loosening
This is the most widely used anti loosening method, which generates a positive pressure between the locking nut pairs that does not change with external forces, in order to generate a frictional force that can prevent the relative rotation of the locking nut pairs. This positive pressure can be achieved by compressing the locking nut pair in both axial and simultaneous directions. For example, elastic washers, double nuts, self-locking nuts, and embedded locking nuts are used.
Structural anti loosening
It is constructed using the locking nut pair itself, which is the Tang's locking nut anti loosening method.
