What are the general uses of high-strength nuts

Used in high-strength nut pairs, with a strength grade (after heat treatment) of 10, used in conjunction with grade 10.9 bolts. There are differences in the mechanical properties and calculation methods between ordinary bolts and high-strength nuts. The force on high-strength nuts is first borne by applying a pre tension force P inside them, and then generating frictional resistance on the contact surface between the connected parts to withstand external loads, while ordinary bolts directly bear external loads.

The strength nut connection has the advantages of simple structure, good mechanical performance, disassembly, fatigue resistance, and no looseness under dynamic load. It is a promising connection method.

High strength nuts are tightened with a special wrench, creating a huge controllable pre tightening force on the bolts. Generate the same preload on the connecting piece through nuts and pads. Under the action of preload, a significant amount of friction will be generated along the surface of the connecting piece. Obviously, as long as the axial force is less than this frictional force, the component will not slide and the connection will not be damaged. This is the principle of high-strength nut connection.

High strength nut connections prevent sliding through friction between contact surfaces. In order to provide sufficient friction on the contact surface, it is necessary to increase the clamping force and friction coefficient of the contact surface. The clamping force between components is achieved by applying pre tension to the bolts, so the bolts must be made of high-strength steel, which is also known as high-strength bolt connection.

In high-strength bolted connections, the friction coefficient has a significant impact on the bearing capacity. The experiment shows that the friction coefficient is mainly influenced by the form of the contact surface and the material of the parts. In order to increase the friction coefficient of the contact surface, sandblasting and wire brushing cleaning are often used to treat the contact surface of components within the connection range.

In fact, there are two types of high-strength nuts: friction type and pressure type.

The criterion for frictional high-strength bolts to withstand shear force is that the shear force caused by the design load does not exceed the frictional force.

The design standard for high-strength bolts under pressure is not to cut off the shaft or crush the plate. In addition, high-strength bolts cannot be reused.
