What are the reinforcement methods of steel structure?

The main methods of steel structure reinforcement are as follows:
It can reduce the load, change the calculation figure, increase the section and connection strength of the original structural member, and prevent the crack propagation.
When there is mature experience, other reinforcement methods can also be used. According to the damage scope, the steel structure which needs to be strengthened is generally divided into local reinforcement and comprehensive reinforcement.
Local reinforcement is the reinforcement of a member or connection node with insufficient bearing capacity, including increasing the section of the member, reducing the free length of the member and strengthening the connection joint.
Comprehensive reinforcement is to reinforce the whole structure. There are two kinds of reinforcement methods, which are not changing the structural static calculation figure and changing the structural static calculation figure.

2、 Main factors of damage to steel structure and reinforcement measures
2.1 the main damage factors of steel structure are as follows:
(1) The bearing capacity of the structure is insufficient due to the change of load, over service life and the change of codes and regulations;
(2) Due to various unexpected deformation, distortion, disability and depression, the cross-section of the member is weakened, the member warps and the connection cracks;
(3) The deformation, cracking and warping of members or connections are caused by temperature difference;
(4) Due to the corrosion of chemical substances and electrochemical corrosion, the cross-section of steel structure members is weakened;

2. There are three kinds of strengthening technical measures of steel structure
(1) Section reinforcement method: steel reinforcement is used locally or along the whole length of the component to form a whole to bear the force together;
(2) Change the calculation diagram: add additional support, adjust the load distribution, reduce the level of internal force, force the support of statically indeterminate structure to reduce the peak stress;
(3) Prestressed cable method: using high-strength cable to strengthen the weak link of the structure or improve the overall bearing capacity, stiffness and stability of the structure.
